The Slow Food Norwich group and Market Quarter Delicatessen have organised a Le Marche olive oil tasting and workshop from a small artisan producer.
There will be 3 oils to try from Frantoio Montedoro, from Azienda Montedoro near Senigallia in Le Marche, Italy. Andrea Tomasetti, from the small artisan olive oil company Frantoio Montedoro, will be giving a talk on the production of fine olive oils in Italy. Andrea now is starting to concentrate on producing more organic olive oil and has planted many new trees.
Andrea will be presenting the excellent Progetto Qualita, his new organic oil from central Le Marche and the Raggia monovarietal made solely from the extremely rare Raggia Variety of olive, not seen much in the UK if at all, so it is worth coming to try it. To accompany the olive oil tasting there will also be a typical Le Marche red wine, the Rosso Piceno and a white wine possibly Verdicchio or Falerio.
We will also be trying an organic olive oil from Gozo in the Maltese Islands and this is pretty rare in the UK as well. It won the Gold award at the Terraolivo Mediterranean olive oil competition in Israel in 2010 and is another very small artisan producer.
