Sagraitalia, working with Olivaverde, have a tasting of biodynamic wines and olive oils from 3 regions of Italy with some short talks about biodynamic wine production and a workshop on biodynamic horticulture and agriculture.
Sagraitalia work with some fantastic small artisan producers in Italy. Most are from the Le Marche region with links being formed with producers in Puglia, Abruzzo, Umbria and Tuscany for 2013.
The wines are from Le Marche, Tuscany and Puglia.
From Le Marche, a white Verdicchio, Capovolto, from the small producer La Marca di san Michele who makes just over 6,000 bottles of this wine each year.
The red is from Tuscany and the La Busattina winery in the southern Maremma area produces 3 full bodied reds and a white wine, the 2007 Legnotorto will be tasted
Then a white wine and the rosato are from Puglian wine maker Azienda Agricola Cefalicchio, the white will be the 2011 Lefko and the rosato the 2011 Ponte della Lama.
The biodynamic extra virgin olive oils are from the new 2012 season, picked and produced in October and are from the beautiful Le Marche region.
The first olive oil is from Patrizia, who produces her olive oil near the town of Riparansone in the south of the region.
The Costa Digiano olive oil is from a farm located near the village of Cingoli in central Le Marche. This organic farm practices biodynamic methods of agriculture to produce their olive oil, soaps and candles.
Also there will be organic honeys from Giorgio Poeta who produces near the town of Fabriano in central Le Marche. It is the first time this honey will be seen in the UK. Giorgio has won many awards in Italy for his innovative range which includes Acacia honey aged in barrels and a honey made from the regional Stachys plant.
