The Sustainable Wines Series is 5 fine wine-tasting events hosted by Slow Food London with noted wine commentator Gilbert Winfield. Our third tasting is on Monday 7th February 2011, 18:30.
The Sustainable Wines Series provides an exciting and helpful introduction to new and sustainable developments in the World of Wine.
The next 3 sessions of The Sustainable Wines Series will focus on biodynamic, “lutte raisonnée” and natural wines. They will feature guest speakers who are experts in their fields, either as producers or commentators.
Our guest speaker on February 7th 2011 will be Doug Wregg of Les Caves de Pyrène. Doug will show a selection of natural wines from different producers, which will provide a fascinating view into an 'alternative' world! Some of the wines in this session will be different from any you may have tasted before, but all will have their story to tell.
Doug Wregg, aka Sir Wregg, is the most outspoken and colourful of advocates of all things natural in wine. Doug started in restaurants, where he worked for many years, and then joined Caves de Pyrène, promoter of 'Real Wine', in 1996. He is a great champion of obscure French regional wines, and a great speaker.
Gilbert started in wine in France many years ago, and progressed to Italy and the UK. He is a member of the Association of Wine Educators and the Circle of Wine Writers, and runs his own company WW Tastings.
