Week 5: (mostly) Slow by our community manager
Monday 22 July 2014
A boiled egg with E5 Bakehouse sourdough toast and 2 cups of Kenyan coffee with raw milk.
I was starting a new contract job and didn't allow enough time to make my lunch. So, a bought smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich. An espresso from an independent coffee shop.
Quick and easy toasted sandwich with fried halloumi, fried egg, gherkin, tomato, mayonnaise, Sriracha sauce. An Italian lager while yelling geeky answers at University Challenge.
Some mini Toblerones and Lindor balls that came from the office, 2 of my favourites.
Tuesday
A boiled egg with E5 Bakehouse sourdough toast and a cup of Kenyan coffee with raw milk. This time I made a sandwich for lunch with sourdough bread, cheddar, gherkins, tomatoes, mayonnaise.
A bought iced coffee.
Well I cheated and bought pre-made fish cakes. When your fish monger is too far away .... I caramelised some yellow courgette and threw in some tomatoes. I cooked some new potatoes but they didn't cool in time to make a potato salad.
And later I find myself eating a round chocolate on a stick, oh alright, it is a lollipop. This new office has too many treats, obviously. And later on this balmy night it's time for icecream and because I just did the dishes I decide to eat out of the container. This is an exceptionally bad move, because I eat all of it, more than if I'd put it in a bowl. I knew this already. You know it too. The research shows the size of our crockery, and packet size influences how much we eat.
Wednesday
A boiled egg with E5 Bakehouse sourdough toast and a cup of Kenyan coffee with raw milk. I couldn't face making the same sandwich as yesterday and decided I needed to upgrade my fillers.
A bought iced coffee and tuna and cucumber baguette.
Dinner was a fish cake with a squeeze of lemon juice like yesterday with left over yellow courgette. I made a simple potato salad with mayonnaise and mustard. And the fresh tomatoes - proudly picked 5 minutes before from my stairwell window box.
Thursday
The usual breakfast.
A bought iced coffee and a home made tuna, cucumber and mayonnaise on sourdough sandwich.
A Brick Lane smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel. Some chips and wheat beers at the pub.
Another bagel with Vegemite and tomatoes at home.
Iceream of course!
Friday
The usual breakfast.
A bought iced coffee and a home made tuna, cucumber and mayonnaise on sourdough sandwich.
Home made pizza! Usual toppings: yellow courgette, tomato paste, mozzarella; and one with anchovies. Sriracha sauce of course.
Ate some popping candy and jelly chocolate and I enjoyed it.
Saturday
The usual breakfast.
Mozzarella buffalo with tomatoes, balsamic, olive oil, seasoning ( pepper, salt).
I used my brains and chopped and roasted a whole cauilliflour. Much better on a hot day than slow frying in a pan. I am going to make the Ottolenghi with it.
Out. Some gorgeous apple and elderflower gin collins, so refreshing and a toasted sourdough mozzarella and sun dried tomato sandwich. Some local (London Fields) unfiltered lager.
Ate some popping candy and jelly chocolate later, mmm.
Sunday
A cup of coffee.
Brunch at a place I stumbled across and returned to after collecting my friend. They did cold brew coffee and I enjoyed my charred asparagus, Parmesan, poached eggs and toast. My friend liked his prosciutto.
Some great chips and craft beer enjoying a sunny Sunday out,
Mozzarella buffalo with tomatoes , balsamic, olive oil, seasoning ( pepper, salt) back home.
I made the Ottolenghi. And you know what I ate later. Chocolate then some strawberry icecream. Love the frozen strawbs in it.
It's been a wonderful summery week so as you can see I've been making more salads and eating more cold foods.
