Week 16: (mostly) Slow in London by our community manager
Monday
The usual breakfast of a boiled egg with or without E5 Bakehouse sourdough toast, and a cup of Colombian coffee with raw milk.
Piece of spanna copita and roast vegies for lunch.
I heated up some cake like it was pudding and had it with vanilla ice cream. Good move.
Tuesday
The usual breakfast.
Home made sandwich with sourdough, hommous, tomato and Jarlsberg.
For dinner cooked beetroot tortelloni with fried broccoli, garlic with a cheesy cream sauce. I used cream cos I wanted something to soften the sweet earthiness of the beetroot.
Wednesday
The usual breakfast.
Home made sandwich with sourdough, hommous, tomato and Jarlsberg. Some nuts.
I had really good intentions of cooking dinner after getting home after 9 but I also wanted to bake a cake ahead of tomorrow's dinner. I realised only one of these actions was likely to occur. So I got some proper chips on the way home. Then I baked another Basque blackberry cake and watched the final 2 episodes of the last season of Breaking Bad. The blackberries were still deliciously warm and squidgy when I ate my first slice. Yes. Win.
The usual breakfast.
A bought brown roll with tuna, egg and coleslaw, 2 satsumas, another coffee.
I cooked dinner for friends, an old fave caramalized onion tart with served wth roast yellow caulliflour, potatoes, garlic, squash and tomatoes. A bottle of prosecco among 3.
Basque blackberry cake with vanilla ice cream.
Friday
Piece of the caramalized onion tart and a banana. Another coffee.
The staple toasted sandwich with fried halloumi, egg, gherkin, tomatoes, mayonnaise, hommous, Sriracha sauce.
Basque blackberry cake with cream.
Saturday
A coffee.
A potato latka wrap and another coffee while market shopping.
Needed another coffee to see me through to dinner at a friend's. She made a courgette and tomato quiche and made the pastry for it. Served with a lettuce salad. And rum.
Last piece of the Basque blackberry cake drowned in cream. And I do mean drowned.
Sunday
The usual breakfast.
A coffee out.
A toasted cheese and tomato sandwich - my 8 day old sourdough loaf was still good for toasting. I'd bought a new one today, but wanted to finish the old one.
Dinner - the rain made me want comfort pasta and I had some in the freezer. I'd bought the gnocchi fresh, then remembered to shove it in the freezer when it became clear that particular week I wasn't going to get around to it.
I'd bought a whole romanesco at the market (coloured cauliflour season's finished!) so fried some up, with some capers then a tin of Italian tinned tomaotes (I like Napoli) then just before serving some cream and grated cheese, seasoning (oh and I threw in the left over cooked beetroot tortelloni too from earlier this week). Steaming bowl of deliciousness. Love gnocchi.
A Picnic.
