Week 19: (mostly) Slow in London by our community manager
A few lovely balmy days this week. But winter's coming. You can certainly feel the chill cycling.
Monday 27 October
The usual breakfast of a boiled egg with or without E5 Bakehouse sourdough toast, and a cup of Colombian coffee with raw milk.
A bought tuna and cucumber baguette for lunch with another coffee.
Tasty fresh Thai out, I had cold rolls (tofu) which I love and when I saw pineapple mentioned in a dish I ordered that. I hadn't even been thinking of pineapple but I'm all about if I have a notion or a craving I'll satisfy it (there's a sense of proportion though, wanting to eat all of the chocolate or ice cream is not the same).
A Picnic bar.
Tuesday
The usual breakfast.
A homemade sandwich: sourdough, Leerdammer, tomato and mayonnaise. Another coffee.
I was feeling a bit under the weather, you know, waking up revoltingly hot and sweaty, scratchy eyes, increased blowing your nose, tired ... you can feel a cold trying to muscle in. So I went for my standbys - I got soup and crumpets from the all too convenient M&S, and yes some choc coated sultanas. Whiskey helps too.
I got peckish later and had 2 crumpets with grilled cheese and Vegemite.
Wednesday
The usual breakfast.
A homemade sandwich: sourdough, Leerdammer, tomato and mayonnaise. Another coffee.
Soup again for dinner as above. I'd found the vegie soup last night quite bland so for this tomato one added Sriracha, the fried shallots and for more substance I cooked some soba noodles and threw them in. A seemingly odd combination that was ok. In fact it ended up tasting like a better version of tinned spaghetti. And a crumpet. And another crumpet.
Choc coated honeycomb.
Thursday
The usual breakfast. Feeling mostly ok now, think I ducked a cold there.
A homemade sandwich: sourdough, Leerdammer, tomato and mayonnaise. Another coffee.
Out for ramen and gyozas and ending with a cocktail with honey foam, which was delicious.
The usual breakfast.
A bought avocado wrap, another coffee.
An after work lager.
After work drinks you don't want to cook something complicated or time consuming. So - toasted sandwich with all the usual ingredients except instead of halloumi I used tofu + fried egg, tomatoes, mayonnaise, Sriracha sauce.
Saturday
The usual breakfast. Another coffee at the market and a potato latka roll.
It was payday this week. And it had been a very long time since I'd treated myself to takeaway. I ordered my favourite dishes from a local Indian who do great veg samosas, + a paneer dish adn a paratha. I cooked my own rice. I'll get 2 meals out if it, and I had a discount from an email too.
2 Daim bars. I'd bought ingredients for peanut butter and chocolate cookies...maybe I'll bake tomorrow.
Sunday
The usual breakfast.
A late lunch of spelt spaghetti with capers and the lingering yellow courgettes from the fridge in a tomato sauce.
Out, some chips at Belgo with a wheat beer and a couple more beers at a gig.
