Culinary Anthropologist Cooking Club 11 and 12 December 19:00

The Cooking Club is a monthly series of classes that you can dip in and out of as you please. Classes are usually held on the second Tuesday and Wednesday of the month, 7-10pm. At each class we cook a seasonal supper, the stars of which are Riverford's beautiful organic vegetables and fruits.

Each class focuses on different produce and culinary techniques, so if you attend several they form a course. You will develop knife skills and learn easy but delicious dishes you can repeat at home.

Classes end with an informal meal together around the table with some good wine, and recipes to take home.

Premiere: Slow Food Story documentary at the Italian Cultural Institute Tuesday 2nd July 18:30

Free London PREMIERE followed by Q&A with director Stefano Sardo, co-producer Sarah Pennacchi (Tico Film) and Slow Food London chair Shane Holland.

Slow Food Story tells the tale of a group of friends in the provinces. It’s a story of pranks and political passions, of restaurants and rediscovered peasant rites, of wine and journeys and gambles, some won and some lost but all taken with the same unsinkable, grouchy irony. The film shows how even the most important cultural adventures can be born of a tongue-in-cheek approach to life.

Presented at the Berlinale 2013, Slow Food Story - A slow revolution, a revolution at a snail’s pace -  explores the birth and the growth of the Slow Food Movement, focusing on its founder Carlo Petrini.

Do you like Parmesan? We do! Italian artisan cheese tasting Thursday 20 June 19:00

Patridges, Slow Food London and Emilia Ltd invite you to taste an incredible selection of Italy's most loved artisanal products. The chair of Slow Food London, Shane Holland, is also speaking.

On the night expect a range of:

Organic Parmesan: the king of Italian products. A style of cheese that speaks for itself and famous world-over. The Parmesan to be tasted is one of the very best examples.

Bruna Alpina Parmesan Cheese: an astonishingly good Parmesan but made only with milk from the Bruna Alpina cow. The milk imparts an even richer flavour with herbal notes in the cheese.   

Formaggio di Fossa (Pecorino Cheese): a very traditional sheep (ewe's) cheese, seasoned for 3 months in the Fossa, Fosse are subterranean holes that occur naturally in the landscape in the areas where the cheese is made, and they are the source of Pecorino di Fossa’s complex flavour and aroma.

Vaccino Cheese in Beeswax: A richly flavoured cow's milk cheese,  sealed with bees wax to preserve the moisture and the incredible quality of the cheese. 

Mora Romagnola ham: Only the very best animals of this ancient breed ever become hams, which in turn are cured for at least 2 years. It has an intense aroma and a long-lasting, delicate, yet savoury taste, with a smoky after-taste.

The tasting will be paired with:
Prosecco White Wine
San Giovese Organic Red wine
